Lo, I didst chase glory on the track, but now I seeketh only sunbeams, sausages, and silence. - Peter's Point, Retired racing Greyhound and would be Shakespearian actor

An Introduction to the New (Reluctant) Adventurer

Once upon a time, there was a lanky, lovable greyhound named Radley who zoomed his way into our lives and our hearts. Radley was a retired racer but don't let the “retired” bit fool you. He had opinions. He had hobbies. He had a sixth sense for sandwich theft. And best of all, he had a passion for adventure, be it hiking hills, exploring beaches, or simply conquering the ever-shrinking corner of the sofa we were technically meant to share.

After Radley came Yogi, and then Sunny - all adventurers in their own unique way.

The website began as a tribute to those glorious days out and muddy paws, a celebration of life beyond the racetrack. We called it Greyt Adventures, because greyhounds and puns are both fabulous and necessary.

And now?

Well... now we have Peter.

Peter is our newest long-nosed lodger. He's also a retired racer but with a slightly different approach to

life. His motto seems to be:

“Why run when you can recline?”

He is majestic. He is mysterious. He is very, very horizontal.

So while our latest adventures may currently include such thrills as:

  • Finding a new napping spot (on your pillow),

  • Performing daily reconnaissance of the snack cupboard,

  • And sniffing the same bush from five different angles,

We’re here to document it all. From the grand (maybe one day we’ll leave the county) to the gloriously mundane (Peter just discovered prawns and it was a whole thing), this blog is about the joy of everyday life with these weird and wonderful dogs.

We may not be zooming up mountains just yet, but who says an adventure has to be epic to be greyt?

🐾 About Peter

Peter is a long-legged loaf of love with a nose for mischief and a heart of marshmallow. A retired racer

turned professional napper, he now spends his days doing important work such as:

  • Holding down the sofa

  • Staring deeply into your soul at dinner time

  • And strategically moulting on freshly hoovered carpets

Unlike his predecessor Sunny, Peter has taken a more introverted approach to life post-racing. He's a deep thinker. A slow blinker. A connoisseur of tripe sticks and soft blankets. While the concept of "adventure" still baffles him slightly (why leave the house when you could snooze?), we have faith that he’s just pacing himself.

He may not be scaling cliffs any time soon, but with every curious sniff and cautious tail wag, Peter is writing his own kind of story. We’re just lucky to be along for the ride (even if it’s in very short bursts followed by a nap and a dried sprat).
